Mentoring Monday 2019!
On February 25th, StaffBuffalo Managing Partner Maggie Shea served as a Mentor during Buffalo Business First’s 6th Annual BizWomen Mentoring Monday!
Held locally at Buffalo Riverworks, the national event brings women together in a casual, fast-paced coaching atmosphere at locations across the country. Mentees had the opportunity to engage in five-minute one-on-one coaching sessions with influential women in the community. While waiting, the participants had the opportunity to further network and build relationships with other female professionals.
All of this year’s mentors were asked a few questions about work and supporting women. Maggie says:
Office pet peeve: Do not waste people’s time. Be on time, prepared, concise, and direct. Do what you say you will do. Ask questions, take notes, and refer back. Negativity is a waste of time. Be a positive force.
On helping women. Let’s raise each other up and help Buffalo grow and prosper by helping other women achieve greatness. Share lessons with other women so that they don’t have to expend as much time and energy on problems and avoid pitfalls.
Advice: Take accountability and responsibility for your actions. You’re going to screw up and that’s OK. You will learn more from mistakes, so take every misstep as a learning opportunity.
