Quotes from Lauren Lewis:
You might think it’s too early to take stock of the changes that lie ahead. Most businesses are still struggling to keep their footing during the current crisis, a focus that Lauren Lewis fully understands.
“They’re taking it week by week, or month by month,” says Lewis, a partner in StaffBuffalo, a staffing and recruitment firm. “Time will tell about the rest.”
She’s right about that, but we can’t resist the temptation to speed up the clock. Here are 18 predictions for the future of business in Western New York.
Offices will look different.
The cubicle farm, packed with employees working in close proximity, will become a thing of the past, or at the very least, much less common.
“Companies may have to reconfigure their physical spaces, at least for a bit,” says StaffBuffalo’s Lewis.
It’s easy to envision the potential changes. Desks in the post-pandemic office will be spaced farther apart. Conference rooms will no longer be jammed with standing-room-only meetings, instead serving smaller groups of workers. Disinfectant dispensers will be affixed to every wall. Remote work will be much more common.
